    Missions

    .......................................................................................................................

The members of Wallen Baptist Church are committed to missionary activities that reach people domestically and abroad as commanded by Jesus Christ. Since the overall purpose of missions is the advancement of the Gospel, this local church places an emphasis on those missions initiatives that hold promise of quickly and efficiently becoming self-replicating, thriving Christian churches.

We support many missionaries and organizations at home and abroad. Nearly all of our overseas missionaries are nationals of their countries. We find they are very effective since they have no language or cultural barrier to overcome. Christ commands us to be good stewards and supporting born-again nationals obtains more mileage from our missions dollars. We support two national pastors in the Ukraine of which we are their only supporters, a missionary from Bolivia serving in Ecuador, and two church planters in India. We also partner with a local crisis pregnancy center, a home for people with mental and physical disabilities, and several children’s outreach organizations. One missionary we support is involved in Bible translation work in central Asia and two others who help connect us with nationals.

Each year we seek out new opportunities for our church to partner in spreading the Gospel. We strive to keep the congregation informed and aware of how they can pray for and get involved in Missions locally and around the world. At Wallen October is “Missions Month” where we highlight our missionaries and relate how the prayers and support of our congregation is helping to change lives around the world.

Wallen has partnered with several other local churches to be an encouragement to churches in a region of Russia. Over the coming years we hope to connect closely with these Russian churches and be an encouragement to them by whatever means necessary. There will also be opportunities for members of our church to travel to Russia to teach and be a personal encouragement to the believers there. This initiative will provide opportunities for spiritual growth on both sides of the ocean.

Throughout the year there are additional opportunities for members of our congregation to get personally involved in Missions. Whether it’s supporting a child from Haiti for a year, donating baby items or food for needy children, or providing a Christmas gift for a child in Russia, there are many ways to show God’s love to those hurting or in need.

If you would like additional information about ways you can get more involved in missions, please contact the church office.
