    Our Philosophy
    .......................................................................................................................

We have developed four pillars of ministry that support all of our decisions. These pillars stand on the single foundation of Jesus Christ who loves us as His own and is the rock of our lives.

    Pillar 1 - Welcome
The New Testament teaches that there are no earthly distinctions when it comes to the Gospel of Christ. God does not discriminate by race, sex, social status, education, or sins committed. In other words, His church is to be a welcoming machine. Our desire is not to allow any prejudice to exist in our hearts toward our fellow man. Those who are despised and dejected by our world are always welcome at Wallen.

Welcome also describes our desire for those returning to their faith. This society is deadly to a walk with God and many who begin with Christ soon fall away. We want to welcome them home. They are wanted here! God delights in their return, and so do we.

    Pillar 2 - Worship
Our lives have been changed in order to bring glory to God. The struggle of man since creation is who will be number one. Let's face it, we normally choose self when posed with that opportunity. Being transformed by Christ returns us to making God the priority in our lives. He no longer is a casual thought but the heartbeat of our lives. The term for this is Worship—that is recognizing God’s worth (He is first in my life).  The New Testament makes worship an issue of lifestyle not time and place.  Our lives are a daily statement of our belief that God is of utmost value.

Most of today’s church is defined by style.  Are you contemporary, traditional, or blended?  This usually means, what kind of music do you have?  At Wallen, music style is not the issue.  The issue is: Is God glorified?  If He is, then the distinctions are artificial.  Our goal is that we are guided by truth at all times.  Worship is the music of our lives walking to the beat of the Divine Conductor.  Our desire is that God would be honored and revered in the everyday music of our obedience to Him.

    Pillar 3 - Word
It is safe to say that Wallen is a Bible centered church.  It is the priority of knowing the Bible that causes us to do the things we do.  It is our belief that the Bible is God’s Word about Himself.  He tells us who He is, what He values, how to please Him, and what makes Him angry.  Therefore, if we are going to know Him, it is imperative that we know His Word.

The goal for us is saturation.  By that we mean a life totally immersed in Biblical truth.  Our response is to bring ears that are willing to hear and lives that are willing to obey, for hearing without doing is basically worthless.

Our commitment is to the reading, singing, preaching, and teaching of the Bible.  That commitment begins at the earliest of ages through our Children’s Department.  It continues in the training of our youth and carries itself through all of our adult ministries.  Musically we are convinced that the truth of the lyric is the critical issue in a spiritual song.  Through these efforts it is our hope that His Word would richly dwell within us.

    Pillar 4 - Witness
We are convinced that God would have us, as His children, tell other people just how amazing He is.  We are to proclaim to all who would hear how excellent God truly is and how they too can become His child.  Our lives are to be instruments of persuasion leading our family, friends, and enemies to salvation.

The tools God has given us to perform this frightening task are powerful. First, He has given us truth. The existence of truth in a world of relativism is a very bright light in darkness. We must humbly present the hope of Christ for salvation. Second, the power of Love is on our side. Love of one another and of those the world despises shakes the foundations of resistance and crumbles the walls of doubt. Third, we have the power of prayer. Seeking God's assistance in spiritual battle for another's soul is an incredible comfort. The fact is we are the light of the world. Our church family must not be content to be hidden but to indeed be the community on the hill for all to see.
